Voluntary Board Member /Director with Financial and Fundraising expertise


The Organisation

The Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists (IASLT) is the recognised professional association of Speech & Language Therapists in Ireland. The Association strives to provide up-to-date information for the general public to aid the understanding of common speech and language disorders and to increase awareness of available services. IASLT also provides detailed information for SLTs currently working or considering working in Ireland.

The vision of IASLT is that ‘Everyone will have the right to live well, irrespective of communication or eating, drinking or swallowing difficulties.’

The Role

IASLT is currently seeking a Voluntary Board Member with financial expertise, who has a genuine interest in contributing to the vision of IASLT and wishes to assist in strengthening and further developing the organisation in achieving its vision.

We are seeking a candidate, who has proven knowledge of financial management or accountancy and experience of fund raising in the non-profit /charity sector.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Membership of IASLT Board of Directors
  • Membership of IASLT Finance Audit and Risk Committee
  • Supporting and developing the fundraising and income generation strategy
  • Oversight of Finance and Risk Management in conjunction with the Board of IASLT

Board Meetings are usually held via zoom at six weekly intervals and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee Meetings are also held on a regular basis.

It is important that the appointed candidate has the appropriate time to commit to this role. This is an exciting time for the organisation, which is undergoing a period of transition and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to make a positive difference to the future development of IASLT.
