Recruiting Outcome Assessors for Happy Talk

Please see below the details of a work opportunity that might be of interest.

I am currently the Principal Investigator of a randomised controlled trial funded by the Health Research Board. We are carrying out a national evaluation of the Happy Talk programme – a speech, language and communication programme embedded in the community for people living in social disadvantage.

As part of this evaluation, we will be hiring 12 researchers to work as assessors in September for 5 weeks. They will receive training to assess children in line with the PLS-5 (a standardised language measure). They will also conduct over-the-phone assessments with children’s parents.

The training will take place in the first week of September followed by the test administration. There are four areas in which the assessments will take place - Wexford, Galway, Dublin and Wicklow. The assessments will be carried out in preschools and schools. Ideally, applicants would live relatively near the schools/preschools where they are testing. Applicants will need access to a car to travel to the testing centres. Travel costs will be covered where possible (300km per week).

If you could pass this information to those who might be interested, I would be very grateful. Anyone interested in the role can contact the Operational Project Manager, Omar Aftab at omar.aftab@ucc.ie

If you need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards,

Dr Pauline Frizelle.
