Joint Committee on Autism: 28th February 2023 - Submission from the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists.

IASLT were represented at a recent Oireachtas Joint Committee on Autism meeting (28th February 2023).

Our thanks to  Áine Lawlor and  Maria Gleeson, who represented the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists and all those involved in preparing for this meeting.

We strongly advocate for a Neurodiversity-Affirmative paradigm as the overarching prism through which disability, in particular for today’s submission, Autism, is viewed, discussed & supported.

We recognise that there are lots of different and valid ways of experiencing the world and that there is great strength and power in a neurodiverse human population
