A Three-Day (Online) Course for Healthcare Professionals
Dates: 12th & 13th August, and 23rd September 2025
Time: 9.30am – 4.30pm
Note: Please ensure you are available for all three dates before registering.
About the Training
This three-day training is delivered by experienced practitioners accredited in Solution Focused
Practice (SFP). It is fully funded by the HSCP Office.
SFP, also known as Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), is an evidence-based, hopeful, and
forward-looking therapeutic and coaching approach. SFP is both a philosophy (a way of relating to people) and a practice (a way of talking with people).
Solution focused conversations focus on desired outcomes to support people in finding ways to
cope, manage or overcome the challenges that they are facing, in ways that are right for them. It pays attention to the small steps already being taken towards the person’s hoped for changes and the strengths and resources that might support further progress. The approach can be used in clinical interactions, supervision, team meetings, and broader organisational contexts to support person-centred care and staff wellbeing.
This course is delivered over 3 days. This gives an opportunity for learners to go back into their job with SFP in mind, noticing possibilities for application and collecting questions and reflections to bring back to the course.
Participants will be introduced to both the SF mindset and the practical ‘tools’ of the approach. Live demonstrations, group exercises, and individual reflection will allow participants to experience the difference between problem-solving and solution-building conversations and develop confidence in using the approach at work.
Who Is It For?
This course is suitable for all health and social care workers. It will be useful for those new to
Solution Focused Practice, as well as those who wish to develop their skills further.
