Public and Patient Involvement in Clinical Research

Public and Patient Involvement in Clinical Research

We are excited to share news of this rescheduled SLT Research SIG lunchtime webinar and of our collaboration with the PPI Ignite Network. Dr Emmy Racine, Programme Manager for PPI Ignite Network @ UCC, will be sharing her knowledge and experience of conducting, researching, and promoting Public and Patient Involvement (PPI). The learning will be invaluable for SLTs planning or involved in research.

Speaker Bio:

Dr Emmy Racine is the Programme Manager for PPI Ignite Network @ UCC and has over seven years’ experience in conducting, researching, and promoting Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) and has extensive in-depth knowledge of PPI theory and practice.

Emmy's research interests include Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) approaches and impact, participatory and engaged research processes and patient experience research. She completed her PhD in 2020 which was entitled: ‘It’s a nice thing to do but…’: Exploring the methods and impact of PPI in trials. This research explored PPI contributors' experiences and contributions at the design, conduct and dissemination stages of trials. She now works with researchers and the public and patients to build capacity for high-quality PPI within UCC and amongst wider society and to embed PPI within institutional policies and practices.
