This is Selective Mutism Module 2 - please note you must have completed an introductory/ module 1 course with Maggie Johnson prior to attending module 2.

Rationale:

Clinicians will be able to use this learning with a core cohort of children and young people who attend CAMHS, PCCC and Disability services who present with anxiety-related symptoms of selective mutism. IASLT  noted an increase in CPD requests in the area of mental health compared to previous years.

Learning Outcomes:

This training course is designed for speech and language therapists who have already attended the basic introductory training in Selective Mutism with Maggie Johnson (Module 1). This proposed course is the next level of training - Module 2 – which offers a more in-depth training for clinicians who work with children aged 5+.

In particular, the course targets:

  • Small steps approaches and programmes for children aged 5 and above
  • Guidance for troubleshooting and dealing with regression
