Free ESLA CPD event for Speech and Language Therapists organised by ESLA and IASLT to celebrate European Day of Speech and Language Therapy. Monday 7th March 2022 1-2pm

Speakers: 

  • Lisa Sheridan BSc, MIASLT

    Senior Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) in Age-Related Healthcare in Tallaght University Hospital (TUH)

    Extensive clinical experience in the management of communication and dysphagia in older persons within the acute and outpatient setting. Lisa has a particular interest in language and cognition and vast experience in assessing complex communication difficulties as part of the Memory Assessment Service in TUH. Lisa has been involved in the recent development of the e-learning modules for SLTs in dementia developed with the Dementia Services Information and Development Centre (DSIDC), has co-developed the Choking Risk Guideline currently under review for endorsement as an IASLT Position Paper and was a recent IASLT representative for the State Claims Agency’s Management of Choking working group which developed the national Patient Safety Notification (PSN). Advanced certification includes Lee Silverman Voice Training (LSVT), tracheostomy management, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), videofluoroscopy, Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Scale (MBSImp).Research interests include dysphagia in the older person, videofluoroscopy practices, management of choking and assessing language and cognitive communication difficulties as part of a memory service.

  • Elaine Barrett & Sarah Egan are speech and language therapists working in PDS teams in Cork. They are interested in neurodiversity, specifically for autistic people. Both are members of the SLT Autism SIG and Sarah is a member of the SLT Autism SIG Neuroaffirmative working group.
