Talking Buddies Details

Talking Buddies is a local project which was funded by Slaintecare and developed by two HSE Speech and Language Therapists, Katie Walsh and Maria Bracken. The aim of the project is to promote language development strategies at a universal level predominantly for children aged between 0-5 years. The goal is to provide preventative interventions to all people centred around a child’s life. They are passionate about children’s books because the research clearly shows that they are a brilliant way to promote speech and language development. Their work has centred around educating parents, teachers and community groups about the importance of a daily reading aloud routine for children’s language development.

This webinar aims to:

1.     Give a background to our project

2.     Why we focused on books

3.     How to use picture books to set and target specific therapy goals.
