Research Survey Participation

Research Survey Participation

An investigation into the factors that lead to the abandonment or inconsistent use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems from the perspective of Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) in Ireland

  • Are you a Speech and Language Therapist working with children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in Ireland?
  • Have you had experience with AAC abandonment or inconsistent use?
  • Can you take the time to complete a short survey detailing your experiences?

I am writing to you to invite you to participate in a research project I am conducting as part of my Master’s degree at the University of Sheffield. I wish to recruit Speech and Language Therapists working with children and young people up to the age of 18 who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication in Ireland.

What is the research project about?

This research project explores the factors that lead to AAC abandonment or inconsistent use. I am interested in finding out more from the perspective of Speech and Language Therapists working in the Republic of Ireland.

How can I take part?

If you would like to take part in the project, you will be asked to complete a short online survey. The survey can be accessed by following the link below:

The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and will explore your experiences of implementing AAC systems with the children you work with. You will be shown the Participant Information Leaflet when you first access the survey link. You will be asked to indicate your consent to participating in the research.

You can access the survey using the link below:

How can I find out more about the project?

I have attached a copy of the information leaflet to this email. If you have any further please do not hesitate to contact me (cloftus2@sheffield.ac.uk) or my research supervisor Dr. Stuart Cunningham (s.cunningham@sheffield.ac.uk)

Thank you for taking the time to read my email. I hope that you will be in a position to complete the survey.

Caoimhe Loftus.
