The Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists has officially submitted our response to inform the long-overdue review of the Disability Act 2005.
The scope of this Disability Act review must carry a wide compass. The revised Act must serve as a holistic, lifelong legal vehicle that embeds a rights-based model of disability across all structures—including health, education, social care, housing, employment, and the justice system.
We’re calling on the Government to build modern, rights-based legislation that guarantees dynamic, lifelong support for individuals with speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs.
