Overview:
Tongue tie has become a cause of concern for many parents of newborns today. It requires careful assessment and consideration by skilled professionals however there can be a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about tongue tie and its relationship to feeding difficulties which is targeted at parents at a vulnerable time.
This session will look at the recent national guidelines on tongue tie published by an expert group from RCPI in 2025. It will address the evidence base for assessment and management of tongue tie, the impact on feeding and speech development, and how SLTs may incorporate this into their practice.
