FEES - DAY 2

Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) Course for Speech & Language Therapists

Tuesday 24th November 2026, Catherine Mc Auley Centre Mater Hospital, Dublin

Overview of Day 2

Day 2 has a theoretical and practical focus and may be of interest to SLT’s who are in a position where they can commence FEES Endoscopist role competencies. Ideally an attendee on Day 2 will have an assigned FEES supervisor, will have attained or is in the process of attaining FEES assessor competencies, and will start Endoscopist role competencies shortly after the course.

There will be a maximum number of 12 places for Day 2. Attendees need to have attended day 1.  Disposable nasendoscopes will be used for the scoping workshop, and all attendees will be expected to scope other participants, and to be scoped by others. This will provide an opportunity for all attendees to pass a nasendoscope a number of times on other attendees (aiming for 4 scope passes per attendee).

Goals include:

  • Greater understanding and management of anatomical variants identified during FEES
  • Learning how to navigate safely through the nasal cavity to the larynx with a flexible nasendoscope
  • Contribution of FEES to different patient cohorts

*Please note there are very limited places available for Day 2. You must have attended Day 1 to attend Day 2.
