IASLT Webinar Celebrating European SLT Day - 11th March 2026

FREE FOR MEMBERS!

The principal Advocacy activity of ESLA is the annual European Speech and Language Therapy Day, that is always celebrated on the 6th March in recognition of the original founding Charter of CPLOL.

The theme for 2026 is "Shaping the Future of Speech and Language Therapy with Artificial Intelligence".

Each year IASLT host a webinar in celebration of European Speech and Language Therapy Day featuring the selected theme of that years event.

Overview:

Chair: Emma Wall - IASLT Professional Standards & Practice Manager and IASLT ESLA Representative.

Guest Speaker: Ana Buckley - Overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This talk provides a clinician-focused overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It introduces core AI concepts most relevant to speech and language therapy and explores current and potential applications of AI across the full spectrum of SLT practice, from administrative tasks, to assessment, diagnosis, therapy planning, and therapy implementation. The session also addresses key ethical, professional, and regulatory considerations, promoting the safe and accountable use of AI as a tool that can support rather than replace clinicians.

Guest Speaker Bio: Ana Buckley

Ana is a Speech and Language Therapist with over six years’ experience working in paediatric community care settings. Alongside her clinical work, Ana has contributed to research and innovation projects as a research assistant and project manager on large-scale speech and language therapy studies conducted within the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at University College Cork (UCC). In 2024, Ana was awarded a competitive Irish Research Council grant to support her PhD research. Her doctoral research focuses on the integration of Generative AI tools to support the co-development of therapeutic resources with children, teachers, and speech and language therapists that target complex syntax in children with Developmental Language Disorder. Ana is motivated by bridging the gap between research and practice through the development of evidence-based tools that support clinicians and make a meaningful difference to children’s lives.
