My name is Elena Byrne and I am a student of the Dept of Clinical Speech and Language Studies at Trinity College Dublin. I am carrying out a research project supervised by Dr Ciarán Kenny. The project is titled “An Evaluation of the Attitudes and Confidence of Speech and Language Therapists in Gender-Affirming Care in the Republic of Ireland: A Mixed-Methods Survey.”
This anonymous survey aims to identify the practices, attitudes and perceived training needs of SLTs in the Republic of Ireland in terms of providing gender-affirming care. It is open to any SLT who works with adults, regardless of their type of caseload, and regardless of whether they provide gender-affirming care.

The results of this survey will help inform future directions for gender-affirming care pathways in Ireland. This data may be taken into consideration by stakeholders in the development of the upcoming update to the transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) model of care in the Republic of Ireland.
