National Clinical Guideline for Stroke for the UK and Ireland - do they reflect clinical practice?
Thank you for considering participating in this research project. The purpose of this document is to explain to you what the work is about and what your participation would involve, to enable you to make an informed decision.
The most recent National Clinical Guideline for Stroke for the UK and Ireland was published in 2023. The literature notes that there are many barriers that prevent adherence to clinical guidelines. This study aims to explore the extent to which recommendations in the National Clinical Guideline for Stroke for the UK and Ireland (2023) are reflected in clinical practice.
Healthcare professionals currently or recently working in stroke in Ireland and the United Kingdom are invited to complete an anonymous online survey. This survey will ask participants to indicate which clinical guideline relates to their own area of work and to estimate the levels of adherence to these guidelines in their own clinical practice. They will be given the opportunity to indicate the facilitators, barriers and challenges they encounter in meeting same.
This research will contribute to a final year Speech and Language Therapy research dissertation, under the supervision of Dr Helen Kelly, Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, University College Cork
