Soft Skills in Speech and Language Therapy

Our names are Aoife Kelly and Katelyn O’ Leary. We are conducting a Final Year Project, “Soft Skills in Speech and Language Therapy”, as part of our Speech and Language Therapy Degree at University College Cork (UCC). This study explores qualified Speech and Language Therapists’ (SLTs) and SLT students’ opinions on the role of soft skills in clinical practice and professional development for our discipline.

We are inviting qualified SLTs to take part in this study which is an online survey. If possible, we would like to ask you to forward this message, and the Participant Information Leaflet attached to your members . The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. The Respondents’ input will contribute to valuable information that may inform SLT education and training.

The online survey can be accessed via the following anonymous link or the QR code below:

Participation in our study is entirely voluntary. Respondents may choose to skip any question or withdraw at any point before submitting their responses. The survey is anonymous, as no identifying information will be collected. Details on data handling and storage is included in the Participant Information Leaflet attached.

If you (or the Respondents) have any questions about the study, please do not hesitate to contact us (see below). Additionally, if there are other SLTs who may be interested in participating, please feel free to share this invitation with them.

Dr. Emma Gleeson, Lecturer, Research Supervisor (e.gleeson@ucc.ie)
