The Professional Identity and Value of Allied Healthcare Professionals

My name is Kate Heavey, I am a final year Athletic & Rehabilitation Therapy in the Technological University of Shannon, Athlone.

I am currently conducting my final year research project, examining professional identity and value among allied healthcare professionals in Ireland using the Professional Identity and Value Scale (PIVS).

This study aims to investigate the differences and similarities between the professional identities and values of certified athletic therapists, chartered physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists.

The professional identity and values of allied healthcare professionals are key factors in how interprofessional teams function together to have a positive impact on patient care. This research will ultimately benefit both patients and healthcare professionals by offering insights that can inform future education and policy, enhancing the recognition and contribution of allied healthcare professionals within the healthcare system.

Participation is voluntary, and the survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. If you have any questions or would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at a00305618@student.tus.ie
