PhD Student Survey:

Title of the study: What are UK- and Ireland-based Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Occupational Therapists experiences and opinions of cotreatment?

Introduction
You are invited to participate in this survey funded by the Cunningham Trust about AHPs experiences of cotreatment in the UK and Ireland. The study is conducted by Evelyn Hamilton (evelyn.hamilton@strath.ac.uk), a PhD student based at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. The survey will remain open until September 2025.

What is the purpose of this research?
This study is gathering opinions and experiences of implementing cotreatment from AHPs working in the UK and Ireland. Cotreatment, often described as ‘joint sessions’, is where two different professions work together to provide therapy in the same treatment session. The existing research on cotreatment has largely focused on the experiences of American-based AHPs (physiotherapists (PT), occupational therapists (OTs) and speech and language therapists (SLTs)); little-to-no research exists regarding UK- and Ireland-based AHPs’ experiences of cotreatment. With the significant differences existing between the USA and UK/IE healthcare systems, there may be differences between AHPs’ experiences.

Do you have to take part?
Your participation in this study is voluntary, and you may choose to withdraw at any time. Should you choose not to complete and submit this survey, your information will not be retained.

What will you do in the project?
You will be asked to provide brief demographic information regarding your profession, your setting and how often you conduct cotreatment sessions. You will also complete a short questionnaire about your experiences, opinions, and barriers you may have encountered when implementing cotreatment.

This survey is anticipated to take no longer than 10 minutes. As this survey is anonymous, you are unable to save your progress and return to it later. We therefore ask that you complete it in one sitting.
